About Me

Welcome! I’m happy you’re here.

You have likely found my page because you are a parent, expecting to be a parent or hoping to become a parent and are needing support during this stage of life. It’s important to find a therapist that you can connect with and who understands what you are going through. Here is a little about me and my approach.

I’m Jillian Bates (She/Her), Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Washington State (LH 61102615), Registered Circle of Security Parenting Facilitator, Owner of Resonance Therapy, PLLC and mom of two. I graduated from Gonzaga University with a degree in Marriage and Family Counseling (Go Zags!). Prior to opening Resonance Therapy, I worked as a Clinical Program Manager and therapist of a Perinatal and Infant Early Childhood Mental Health Program.

I have dedicated my career to supporting parents, expecting parents, foster, adoptive, and kinship caregivers through the joys, challenges, and all the messiness that comes with growing a family and raising young children. I believe that two things can be true during this time, you can feel joy, happiness, and experience so much love while also feeling overwhelmed, alone, and unsure of what to do. My hope for caregivers from pregnancy, postpartum into early parenthood is to help you to not feel alone, to feel connected and confident in who you are as a parent AND who you are outside of being a parent.

Parenting. Is. HARD and we aren’t meant to do it alone. You may have thought to yourself, “This isn’t what I expected it to be like”, “Am I a good parent?”, or “Why is this so hard for me?”.  You may also feel sadness, grief, or even anger at what this journey has been like versus what you thought it might be. You are not alone and I welcome all of it! It is my firm belief that all parents are doing the best they can and we will work together to recognize, trust, and strengthen these parts of you.

I will create a space for you to share your experiences of parenthood and growing your family- the good, the bad, and the ugly! I will hold a nonjudgemental space, where you can show up as you are, feel seen and understood and work toward feeling more confident, less overwhelmed and more connected. You do so much to support your children and growing family and you also deserve to feel supported and cared for.

Outside of my work with clients, I enjoy spending time with my family, exploring our city’s delicious food, and enjoying our fair share of sports-especially our beloved Gonzaga Bulldogs.
